Children's & Youth Sunday School
Learning about the God who created, loves, and saves us is fun! Our young people enjoy multimedia experiences using Bible based curriculum. Classes are offered for ages Preschool to Senior High. Sunday School starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer we have a Vacation Bible School for our pre-K through 5th grade children. Our older children and youth are helpers. We hold V.B.S. with two other churches as well as First Presbyterian: Grace Episcopal Church and First Christian Church. This past year we used Route 254 by Lifeway. It focused on Psalm 25:4 and was a roadtrip across America. The kids always learn more about God and have a great time.
The Chancel Choir
Special Music on Sundays may include the Chancel Choir, the Youth Choir, the Youth Bell Choir, a soloist, an ensemble, Rock Salt - our church youth music ensemble, or a congregational hymn. The Chancel Choir participates in a musical celebration on Palm Sunday. In December the Chancel Choir ministers through music with a Christmas Cantata.
Children & Youth Bell Choir
Our youth actively participate in worship through monthly children's and bell choir opportunities. Practices correspond with Sunday School.
Youth Group - PYGs?
Don't let the name fool you! The Presbyterian Youth Group (PYGs) is a gathering of the future!
God has a plan for every believer. Our young people today will be the leaders of tomorrow. Seeing the world from a Christian perspective requires practice and purpose. Youth group is an opportunity for 5th graders through Senior High to explore life issues in a safe and positive environment as they learn to see the world through God's eyes.

Missions
First Presbyterian Church participates in organized missions such as Meals on Wheels, the Festival of Sharing, Green Hills Action Agency, the food pantry, and Operation Help. During the Christmas season, we support the "Adopt a Family" program through the Salvation Army and provide food, clothing, and gifts for several families during the holiday season. A mitten tree provides a place for members to donate hats, scarves, and mittens for those in need during the cold winter months. Wednesday afternoons, during the school year, you will find several members of our congregation supporting the Popcorn Ministry for the local school children in which we give them a bag of popcorn and a Scripture verse. We also recognize and respond to the needs of those in our local congregation and community as the Spirit leads us.
